anncharlat a year agoHere is the Barack Obama solution, how is that working out for ya? 27% black unemployment, 19% across the board (because I think every one counts, even those who have “given up”), mortgage crisis is now way worse look at the new default level, inflation has not even hit yet, the price of gas (I thought we invaded Iraq for oil?), number of soldiers killed since Obummer became president far exceeds that of Bushes total for the entire war. Not to mention the debt, spent more in this 2 years then the entirety of the country’s history combined and those very same policy’s put into place and pushed into law by the democratic controlled congress and senate got us here: “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” “I will cut taxes – cut taxes – for 95 percent of all working families, because, in an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle class.” “It’s time to fundamentally change the way that we do business in Washington. To help build a new foundation for the 21st century, we need to reform our government so that it is more efficient, more transparent, and more creative. That will demand new thinking and a new sense of responsibility for every dollar that is spent.” “I don’t take a dime of their [lobbyist] money, and when I am president, they won’t find a job in my White House.” “What do you think a stimulus is? It’s spending that’s the whole point!
Seriously.” -Barack Obama -

Elwin Ransom a year agoYour President has been raping the job producers for 3 years…but not a peep from you lemmings. Bachmann made the case for making the US similar to other countries—where we don’t tax companies with overseas plants twice. She never said she supports a zero tax rate for corporations. Give me a break.

therblig a year agoshe’s been upstaged by Perry, who’s the GOP darling of the moment. Since he has similar positions as her, and is a sitting Governor (as opposed to a mere congresswoman), and, of course, a rough tough gun totin’ coyote shootin’ man, it’s unlikely the pendulum will swing back to her brand of crazy. Just as she did to Palin, Perry has eclipsed her. And that’s about the only good thing about Perry. Up next, Chris Christie eyes the Taft bathtub.

Jimmy Meltrigger a year agoThis is not a unique conservative argument. She wants us to motivate corporations like GE who sneak out of paying taxes by keeping profits away from the country, like a legal offshore account plus other tax loopholes, by giving them a drastically lower tax rate here. How this would lead to them creating jobs here instead of keeping the profits or shipping jobs overseas is where the real bullshit conservative magic happens. Mrs. Bachmann, if Ireland offers tiny tax rates for corps to put their money in a bank there because they have no relationship with them otherwise that that tax rate would hinder that country’s growth and China still offers labor at indentured servant prices, no amount of selling out the working class here will will make these businesses change. And Obama will still be black. Whoops, are we still pretending that’s not part of your platform?

sanfrustration a year agoA zero percent corporate tax rate isn’t even close to what she said here. She is primarily talking about repatriating income from overseas that is purposely held outside of the U.S. It is more complicated than this, but if Pepsi sells a can of soda in Europe and nets 1 euro of income, they keep that euro outside of the U.S. so they aren’t taxed here in the states at the corporate level. There is around $1.3 trillion of this income held outside the country that many argue could stimulate the economy if brought back to the U.S., which would only occur if there were an amnesty on the corporate tax rate. You don’t have to agree with this corporation multiplier effect (jobs, economic stimulus etc…), I know I sure don’t, but don’t be misleading about it with such a false, attention-grabbing headline. There is nothing wrong with the truth on these issues.

Austin Found a year agoWhat do you mean their taxes are too high? Exxon-Mobil got a $180million tax REFUND last year. If they actually paid 0% in taxes it would be a huge tax INCREASE for them. They can just shuffle money around offshore until they owe no taxes and pay zilch and get our tax dollars back as refunds. It’s just a huge game of Calvin-Ball for them.
