You’ll Need A New Data Plan To Use FaceTime On AT&T

A byte of data is a byte of data, you’d think — that if you’re paying for a certain amount of data per month, you can use it however you want. You would be incorrect. In order to use Apple’s FaceTime videochat over AT&T’s cellular network, you’ll have to switch one of its new Mobile Share plans, which are expressly designed to protect legacy revenue streams like calling and texting. AT&T’s already effectively capped its older unlimited plans; expect them to apply even more forceful leverage like this over time.
