SitaSky 6 months agoWho cares what MTV shows or doesn’t’ show anymore? They stopped being cool around 1996 and even then it was only worth watching because of 120 minutes and the people on The Real World were interesting and cool instead of oversexed alcoholics who need drama like normal people need food and water.

Chris Futrell 6 months agoTake it from someone who used to work at MTV Networks. They don’t play music videos anymore because they don’t get ratings, at all. Everyone constantly says they want music videos back on MTV, but when they do, no ratings. Why would someone watch music videos on TV, when they can simply go and watch it on the Internet whenever they want. So, that’s why. No more discussion.

Mtv needed ratings. whit videos viewers come and go and dont stay for too long… if you dont like the video… you just go… with shows you garantee targets and that the audience stays there longer for the tv spots… BS. Music hasnt stoped bcs of illegal downloads… it has changed the industry for sure… but its not the reason why mtv doesnt play music.

CarrotNunchucks 6 months agoThat is crap. MTV stopped playing music videos way before napster and the like became hugely popular. In fact MTV used to be where people discovered music but when they stopped it caused people like me to discover music online. Guess what else I discovered: I could get the music for free. Thank you MTV.
