Ken Shirriff tore apart an iPhone charger to see why Apple charges so much for them. Turns out what's inside is "a technologically advanced flyback switching power supply that goes beyond the typical charger" that makes it worth the cost: "Apple's iPhone charger crams a lot of technology into a small space. Apple went to extra effort to provide higher quality and safety than other name-brand chargers, but this quality comes at a high cost."
