At Least Seven Killed In Suspected US Drone Strike In Pakistan

The strikes took place in North Waziristan, a mountainous region near the border with Afghanistan.

Two suspected U.S. drones fired missiles on militant targets killing at least seven people in Pakistan, Pakistani intelligence sources said Friday, according to Al Jazeera.

The strikes took place in North Waziristan, a mountainous region near Afghanistan.

The Pakistani army has been mounting an air and ground operation against Pakistani Taliban insurgents in the area, officials said.

One of the two strikes targeted a hideout in the Kund area of Shawal and killed four people. The second hit at Uzbek hideouts in the Mangroti area and killed three, according to CNN.

Pakistan has taken increased action against the Taliban following the Dec. 16, attack on a school that killed more than 140 people, including 130 children. On Saturday, a similar strike in North Waziristan's Datakhel area killed five militants.
