Barrister Alistair McDougall says the offending was part of a "misguided post-season celebration" that went on for about a month @abcnews

According to ABC News, Hunt's barrister Alistair McDougall told the court, his client had purchased 12-and-a-half grams of cocaine during September and October last year in what he described as a "misguided" post-season binge.

Hunt is one of eight Queensland-based football players who were served with court notices over a drugs scandal that has rocked football in the state.

The scandal allegedly focuses around the Gold Coast Titans rugby league club which has been placed into the hands of the sports administration.

Hunt escaped jail and was fined $2,500 while Titans players Beau Falloon and Jamie Dowling had their drugs charges adjourned until May 8.

Hunt was signed to play for the Queensland Reds at the end of last year after several seasons playing professional AFL and rugby league.

The Queensland Reds are expected to make a statement about Hunt's future at the club on Thursday afternoon.
