This Is How Old The Bali Nine Were When They Were Arrested For Drug Trafficking

Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran are scheduled to be executed in Indonesia in the coming days.

The Bali Nine ringleaders Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were young men when they were arrested on 17 April 2005.

They organised seven other people in the smuggling of 8.3 kilograms of heroin, and one year after their capture they were sentenced to death by firing squad.

Both men are now in prison on Nusakambangan island awaiting execution, with the Australian government pleading to the Indonesian government for last-minute clemency.

The other members of the drug ring included Michael Czugaj and Scott Rush who were both 19 at the time of their arrests.

Both are serving life sentences in Indonesian jails and according to Channel Seven have struggled with drug addiction while in prison.

Renae Lawrence and Martin Stephens were two of the 'drug mules' originally from New South Wales. Lawrence is serving 20 years in prison while Stephens is serving a life sentence.

Queenslanders Si Yi Chen, Matthew Norman and Tach Duc Thanh Nguyen were all less than 21 when they joined the Bali Nine drug ring.

All are now serving life sentences in Indonesian prisons.
