Town Says “No Thanks” To Glenn Beck, Offers Key To Jon Stewart
Not to be outdone by his Mount Vernon, WA neighbors, who plan to honor Fox News Channel conservative commentator Glenn Beck, Bellingham, WA Mayor Dan Pike says he’s offering a key to his city to Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central’s satirical news program “The Daily Show.” To show they’re serious, thousands in the City of Subdued Excitement joined the Facebook fan page in just a few days.

“It all started when Mount Vernon Mayor Bud Norris announced he will award the key to the city to Beck, a divisive conservative talk show host who was raised in the town. Furor followed as blogs fumed and the Skagit Valley Herald suggested the City Council limit the mayor’s power to make the town a “national laughingstock.” To make things more interesting, Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike offered the key to his city to Stewart both because of his “cogent yet comedic analysis of news events” and because the two went to the same high school in New Jersey.”
