Heartfelt Photographs That Define Love

What does love mean to you? A selection of images chosen by National Geographic from its photo community, Your Shot.

Last month, National Geographic asked readers to submit photos of how they see love, which were submitted via its online photo-sharing platform, Your Shot. Out of more than 14,000 submissions, 27 made it into the final story, entitled Love Snap. Here are a handful of the selected images:

“When Cecilia was born, we spent six weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She was barely 2 lbs., and we had never seen a human so small. I was very sick, and could not be with her the first few days after she was born. Her father was a loving bridge connecting our new family —he was by her side until I could be <3” Amanda Linden / National Geographic Your Shot

“A beautiful double rainbow in the Arizona desert! Out jumping in puddles after a downpour and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to hold this rainbow.” Alissa Jade / National Geographic Your Shot

“I composed and shot this during early morning hours, few days prior to this couples wedding.” Ankit Narag / National Geographic Your Shot

“My Grandmothers hand wearing the two rings. One belongs to her and second to someone who is gone.” Konstadinos Xenos / National Geographic Your Shot

“Love comes in many forms and a peaceful morning can be full of it!” Anca Bilt / National Geographic Your Shot

“Unstaged photograph on a ferry of my friend looking out the window.” Mey Bulucek / National Geographic Your Shot
