Cory’s rep gave this statement to People on Sunday night:
The actor “has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction,” his rep tells PEOPLE. “He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
Soon after, Lea Michele, his Glee costar and real-life girlfriend, said this about the situation:
I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”
Update: Monteith’s other Glee costar Chris Colfer tweeted this, which is possibly a reference to Cory:
- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Cuba later this summer for the opening of a U.S. embassy there.
- Nicholas Winton, who saved more than 650 Jewish children from the Holocaust, died at 106.
- The fire at a South Carolina black church late Tuesday night wasn't arson, according to a preliminary investigation.
