I’m going to have to call bullshit on the Hate Fest that’s been going on with the critics over The Lone Ranger. That movie got so much bad press before it even came out it was ridiculous. Never in the history of movies have I ever heard such a big stink being made over one character. There are a hundreds of movies that did not cast exactly according to the book. Oh my god people deal with it. Everyone acted as though Johnny Depp had personally destroyed everything good about Native Americans. I went in to watch this movie very much expecting to not like it, due to the way the press and the public at large had vilified it. I personally wonder if even a quarter of the people complaining about the movie had even SEEN it. Sorry people but Johnny Depp was great. I never once thought he was making fun of or demeaning Native Americans in his portrayal of Tonto. I felt like he came off as much more interesting and smarter than the Lone Ranger. I will absolutely see the movie again and recommend it to anyone that asks. I don’t understand why the public held this movie up as being more un PC because Depp wasn’t actually Native American. Seems to me that there must have been something more going on behind the scenes and someone was intentionally trying to tank this film. You have to admit there is something wrong when a movie like this gets rated lower than crap like Knocked Up or (ironically) the remake of 21 Jump Street. Talk about not funny.
