The Problem With The Independent’s Edward Snowden Photo? It’s Not Him


An early version of today’s Independent which circulated on Twitter featured a photo of whistleblower Edward Snowden arriving in Moscow.

The only trouble with that cover splash? It’s clearly not Edward Snowden in the photo.

Realising its mistake, the Independent subsequently published a different front cover. However, just in case you’re still not sure, here’s a handy visual guide.

UPDATE - June 25, 6.50pm. This article has been edited to make it clear that the original front cover never actually appeared on newsstands.
