The Definitive Ranking Of X Factor Joke Acts

The producers of The X Factor bring the lolz every season. Here are the joke acts they've managed to shoehorn into the live shows, ranked on their entertainment value

    14. Nicolo Festa - 2010

Nicolo was portrayed as an arrogant so-and-so, and made it through at the expense of better singers. Following just this one performance, he was given the boot

    13. Diva Fever - 2010

    Too much. Too, too much

    12. 2 Shoes - 2011

There's nothing The X Factor likes more than the tried-and-tested, so it was no surprise to see this dire duo fly the flag for Essex in the post-Towie era. Amusing enough in the early stages, rightly booted off in the first week of the live shows.

    11. Eton Road - 2006

Eton Road probably weren't intended as a joke act, but a sequence of campy songs, performed terribly, make them the first act on this list to provide proper entertainment value. Look out for the one who thinks he's Mariah, but has approximately one fifteenth of her vocal range

    10. Same Difference - 2007

Brother and sister. Finished third. Thoroughly chilling

    9. SPECIAL EXCEPTION - Goldie Cheung - 2011

Goldie was a dead cert to make the final 16, but she pulled out at the last minute. She said it was because she missed her family, though there were rumours she feared being the joke act. Shame on the producers for not taking her artistry seriously

    8. Christopher Maloney - 2012

Adore this performance. Chris loving it; Gary mortified

    7. Johnny Robinson - 2011

A producer's dream - Johnny clearly didn't give a crap and probably said 'yes' to whatever they wanted. Such a shame when he was bullied into singing a 'ballid'

    6. Frankie Cocozza - 2011

You got the sense that Gary was living an alternate bad boy existence vicariously through Frankie. At the time, Frankie was supremely annoying. Now, it feels like he was chewed up and spat out by the X Factor machine

    5. Kitty Brucknell - 2011

A tough one, this. Kitty was initially presented as a joke, but it became a little hard to stomach as she grew visibly uncomfortable with it and showed she could actually sing

    4. Chico - 2005

The original, and some would say the best

    3. Rylan Clark - 2012

Enjoyed himself, and so did we. This is possibly the best WTF routine ever to grace the X Factor stage

    2. Jedward - 2009

Impossible not to stare open-mouthed at this twincestuous rendition of Britney's Oops I Did It Again. Brought it time and time again

    1. Wagner - 2010

Shares a name with the great German composer. Hard not to feel that with this Ricky Martin/B-52s mash-up, he surpassed his namesake's so-called achievements.
