I get the idea that we shouldn’t ignore the charges raised because we find Snowden personally repugnant but that doesn’t mean that they are mutually exclusive. Snowden strikes me as a narcissistic jerk who happens to have stumbled onto the right side of an issue. Having said that, there is a need to protect national secrets and nobody should endorse an open season on them. The players that Snowden is hanging out with are a lot worse than the US. Here is the big deal about the revelations and other similar issues. The government keeps proving time and again that they will abuse any powers granted them over and over again. Why is it that when I cross the borders, a customs agent is granted from Homeland security, the right to investigate my laptop not for evidence of being a terrorist or any kind of threat to the homeland, but for copyright infringement? Why the hell is Homeland Security involved in those issues? That is the kind of abuse that needs to be investigated and exposed. The American people need to be educated in the loss of basic rights of privacy. And btw, Snowden is still a jerk.
