1. Bellatrix LeStrange Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Okay, yes we all know Voldemort is evil, he always has been, but the eerily beautiful, cunning, and conniving Bellatrix… Besides the facts that she murdered her own cousin and niece, she killed Dobby the elf! He just wanted a sock you bitch. Ultimate evil.

2. Scarlett O’Hara Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Some see Scarlett as a true survivor, but lets face the facts: she is an evil, boy crazy wench who criminally neglected her own children and ruined the lives of most everyone around her all for a man she decided she wasn't all that into once she got him. Frankly, I give a damn about that, so I'm putting her on this list where she belongs.

3. The Trunchbull Matilda by Roald Dahl

An Olympic triple threat with that grill, a horsewhip, and the Chokey! Just reading about her screwed up my childhood.

4. Nurse Ratched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey

The only thing colder than the nuthouse walls is The Big Nurse, Miz Ratched… With the “tip of each finger the same color as her lips. Funny orange,” this is one Nurse you’re not getting a lolli from.

5. President Coriolanus Snow The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Ole’ Blood Breath. He kills innocent families, poisoned his so called allies, and heads a televised “game” in which 24 children fight to the death for entertainment. Twisted.

6. Annie Wilkes Misery by Stephen King

Serial Killer, psychotic nurse, avid reader. Killed her father, college roommate, 11 infants, and numerous patients, amongst others. Held hostage and brutally tortured her favorite author, but its okay, its only because she loved him so much.

7. Hilly Holbrook The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Okay for a second lets forget about all the racial controversy surrounding this book and admire the pure villainy that is Holly; A major enforcer of segregation, she manipulates and humiliates anyone who dares to challenge her. And lets not forget about her “Home Help Sanitation Initiative,” proposing black people use separate toilets in fear of contracting disease.

8. Daisy Buchanan The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Another possibly unpopular choice but lets get real. She committed a hit and run on her husband's mistress and totally teased Gatsby to the point where it was... evil. She’s smoking hot, knows it, and denies it. She was also a really, really bad mother and deserves a spot on this list.

9. Kevin Khatchadourian We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver

A sociopathic child, Kevin seems to have zero remorse when demonically attacking his classmates, mother, and anyone in between. He caused his sister to go blind by pouring drain cleaner in it (although he says it was just an attempt to clean it), then eventually kills her, his father, and then tops it off with a massacre at school. Wow.

10. O’Brien 1984 George Orwell

Although O’Brien claims to be part of the resistance, he is loyal to the party, and a brutal member of the Thought Police. An advocate of torture, he takes pleasure in squashing the opposition. "Always, Winston, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever."

11. Colonel Kurtz Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

Believed to be a demigod by the natives, Kurtz is intelligent, cultured, and a man of many talents. Whatever the reason he became so remorselessly corrupt, he eventually becomes the archetype of pure evil. Greed, power, and the desire to “Exterminate the brutes.”

12. The Overlook Hotel The Shining by Stephen King

Okay, okay, while this may be hard to define as a character, if you’ve read the book you know what I’m talking about. Essentially, the hotel is the source of the insanity and evil amongst it’s guests.

13. Judge Holden Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

Massive, hairless, persuasive, and seemingly supernatural, the Judge is terrifying. Leading a ruthless gang around he rapes, pillages, tortures, and kills without remorse, declaring himself “Suzerian of the Earth,” he slaughters random species because “Whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent.” This is one bad mother.
