People All Over The World Helped To Find A Girl's Stolen Puppy

A little girl in Essex has been reunited with her stolen baby chihuahua after the Find Caramel campaign made waves across the world.

Earlier this month, 8-year-old Lexie Taylor had her chihuahua-cross puppy, Caramel, stolen from her home in Harlow, Essex, during a burglary.

Ten days ago, the family launched a campaign on social media called "Find Caramel", which has gained over 14,000 fans.

Lexie's family claims the page has reached 13 million people.

Lexie's mother, Tracy Taylor, told the Harlow Star that her daughter "cannot understand what happened, and she was crying in bed all of last night. They were inseparable."

As Essex police search for Caramel, messages of support have flooded in for the Taylor family from around the world, although they have so far received no leads on her whereabouts.

The family were particularly hoping to have their beloved pet returned in time for Lexie's 8th birthday on Friday.

Lexie and her family are devastated, and are offering a £1,000 reward for Caramel's safe return.

As well as setting up accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, the Taylor family have published their contact details with a plea for any information on Caramel.

"We don't want to win the lottery .... Just want Caramel home x", they wrote.

BuzzFeed News has reached out to the Taylor family about the overwhelming response they've received to their Find Caramel campaign.

On Monday evening Caramel was returned home safely.

Details of the dog's return have not been confirmed by the family, but in a message to friends on Facebook, they said, "we couldn't have done it without you."
