You see, there's this scientific phenomenon called the spotlight effect.
We naturally assume people are paying more attention to us than they actually are.
To prove this theory, Cornell researchers made students walk into a room full of people while wearing an embarrassing t-shirt.
The students grossly overestimated the number of people who noticed their Barry Manilow t-shirt.
