Sitting in my seat in the OMJ office, I come across hundreds of job ads a week. The good, the bad, the ugly, you name it, I’ve seen it! When a job isn’t performing as expected on our site, it isn’t our SEO, our Marketing or our Resourcing team we look to for answers...it’s the job copy! It’s amazing how many adverts I see land in my inbox, which I can tell for a fact will not work for the client. I actually know within the first 30 seconds of scanning them. It’s like a sixth sense (expert I know!). Not only are employers and recruiters squandering their budgets on bad ads – they also spend a good day or two flapping around, wondering why they have irrelevant and darn right questionable applicants. In my opinion, this is two days wasted where they could be interviewing the superstars of the future (for their company obviously)! 9 ways to kill your advert I hear you say?
