You are privileged in the sense that you can “hide” being gay to survive. Hence, “being in the closet”. If you’re black, Asian, Latino (brown/black/Asian) or another person of color, you can’t hide it. It’s there. Or, if you’re a woman. You can’t hide it. You shouldn’t have to hide who you are, of course. But, if you’re white and gay. The gay can be put away (pun intended).
