In response to a call from Hewlett Packard for user-made advertisements, two students (Matt Robinson and Tom Wrigglesworth) at London’s Kingston University pulled off a mesmerizing synchronized printing routine with a stable of HP printers. The ad is both artistically and conceptually impressive.

The answer is yes. Ghosts is a short film starring Michael Jackson and directed by film director and special effects guru Stan Winston which could also be classified as a long-form music video. Stephen King worked with Jackson on the story and concept. It was filmed and first screened in 1996 and released along with select prints of the film Stephen King’s Thinner. It was released a year later internationally on VHS but has since gone out of print and is unavailable today…(Read more here)

Sirius recently released a free iPhone/iPod touch application for satellite radio fans. The Sirius XM offering includes 120 channels but Howard Stern is not present. Acclaimed Japanese horror novelist Koji Sazuki (his work inspired The Ring) is printing his latest tale of terror on toilet paper. Drop is nine chapters long and is set, appropriately enough, in a public restroom. The story is illustrated with splashes of blood – although the blood is blue, for reasons unknown. The toilet paper company that’s publishing Drop says that reading the book while using the restroom will heighten the “psychological fright.”

I watched the new Star Trek movie yesterday and loved it. It was everything that a summer blockbuster should be. I watched the television show as a kid and enjoyed the Wrath of Khan movie but found most of the movies dull and silly. This film really reboots the entire franchise into something current, exciting, relevant and appealing. If you like what Christopher Nolan did to Batman or the new James Bond series, then you will enjoy this origin picture. There are enough inside jokes and references to keep the Trekkies happy but the material is accessible for a new audience as well. The entire theater was clapping at the end of the movie and everyone wanted more. I’m sure there will be a sequel…

Fans of Wolverine who watched the online leak of the film won't miss one thing by skipping the theater — they'll miss at least two. Director Gavin Hood says the theatrical version of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” due out Friday, features two different “Easter egg” endings. The short bits of footage play after the credits and reveal important information about key characters. Hood says the two endings play on separate prints, so different theaters may show different footage. The full-length work print leaked last month has a different ending than the one recently screened for reporters.

Variety reports that Columbia Pictures is moving forward on a third installment of the Robert Langdon franchise, based on Dan Brown’s books. The Da Vinci Code kicked things off in May of 2006 and will be followed by Angels & Demons on May 15. The two films were both directed by Ron Howard and star Tom Hanks as the Harvard symbols expert. Dan Brown has announced that his next installment of the series is “The Lost Symbol,” which will be published in the U.S. and Canada by Doubleday on September 15, 2009. The story takes place during a twelve-hour period.

The Beatles remasters will finally be available on 9-9-09! The remasters have been worked on over the last four years at Abbey Road Studios in London. This reissue campaign encompasses the entire Beatles catalogue as they were released in the UK (track-list and artwork). In addition, the previous Past Masters (Vol 1 and Vol 2) will be combined to release as one Volume. As you can tell from the pictures, these are going to be extravagant. They will be presented with original and new liner notes, detailed historical notes, and recording process notes. As bonuses, and for a limited time only, each Beatles title will include Quicktime files, mini documentaries on the making of the particular album they’re on. These documentaries will include archival footage, photos, and in-studio chats by the members of the band as they were in the process of recording. These are meant to be definitive releases of the Beatles albums.
