I am a Londoner and the waiting list for Counselling has always been a long one. The only time I got immediate help was when I was suicidal, then I was referred to a Mental Health team and given CBT. It didn’t work for me, however I am grateful I wasn’t left to my own devices. Sadly more & more people are seeking help for depression and mental health services, and the NHS will struggle to help everyone. In cases when people are not at risk of suicide, there needs to be more information about the benefits of exercise, mindfulness, just coping strategies which people can use to feel more in control of this awful illness.
