      Hmm. The ABC report does seem to indicate that she meant it as “You have the right person [in custody]”. That still sounds a little weird to me, in terms of phrasing - even someone who is suspicious of their son would probably say “I think it might be him”. So I don’t know. I guess it doesn’t really matter.

      I agree that it sounds like that, but it might not have been meant that way. The reporter could have said “Hello, this is ABC News. Am I speaking to the mother of one James Holmes who resides in Colorado? Do you have a comment about tonight’s events?” To which her answer would have been exactly as it was: “You have the right person. I need to call the police. I need to fly out to Colorado”. Remember, it was ABC talking to her, not the police. So she could have meant “You have the right person - I am Mrs. Holmes”, rather than “You have the right person in custody”.
