After Getting Rejected From Duke, This Student Wrote Them A Rejection Letter

"I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me admission into the Fall 2015 freshman class at Duke."

When Duke University sent out their rejection letters this year, a lot of students took the news fairly well.

Duke just sent me thE NICEST rejection letter. I can't even be bitter rn seriously :')

I just got the sweetest most sincere rejection letter from Duke 💗😂

Didn't get into Duke. That's okay. Hung the rejection letter over my bed #motivation

Ahhh so that's what a rejection letter feels like. Meh, not too perturbed. Hopefully Duke will open its doors for grad school? 🙏😅

But 17-year-old Siobhan O’Dell took a different approach. After she received a rejection letter from Duke, she wrote them a rejection letter that she was "unable to accept [their] refusal to offer [her] admission."

O'Dell did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BuzzFeed, so we can't verify if she really sent them her rejection of the rejection or if this was just a creative coping mechanism.

Here's a transcript of the letter:

Dear Duke University Admissions,

Thank you for your rejection letter of March 26, 2015. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me admission into the Fall 2015 freshman class at Duke.

This year I have been fortunate enough to receive rejection letters from the best and brightest universities in the country. With a pool of letters so diverse and accomplished I was unable to accept reject letters I would have been able to only several years ago.

Despite Duke's outstanding success in rejecting previous applicants, you simply did not meet my qualifications. Therefore, I will be attending Duke University's 2015 freshmen class.

I look forward to seeing you then.
Siobhan O'Dell

Well done, Siobhan. Well done.
