Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
The classic children's novel and Newbery Medal winner is a part of a nine-book series.
In honor of the special anniversary, there are brand new covers being released.

The covers are beautifully illustrated by Kadir Nelson, who's famous for his art featured in other children's books like I Have a Dream, Nelson Mandela, and A Nation's Hope: The Story of Boxing Legend Joe Lewis.
In addition to updated book covers, Penguin Young Readers is also holding a writing contest in partnership with the non-profit We Need Diverse Books.
Penguin describes it as "a debut children's fiction contest to find talented, ethnically diverse authors writing for readers ages 8-14." You can start submitting stories in April, and can find more details on the book's website.
“Without the Council on Interracial Books contest, my books about the Logan family might not have been published," Mildred D. Taylor said in a statement.
All of the books will be on sale with the new covers on April 12.
