10 Of The Most Underrated Taylor Swift Songs

Taylor Swift certainly isn't underrated, but some of her songs are. Remember when 'Cold As You' wasn't performed live until 2013 when it was released in 2006?!

10. Come in With the Rain

Every single song released on Fearless Platinum Edition deserves to be on this list, but because there's no room for that, I chose one of the best. 'Come in With the Rain' is a song that deserved to be on the original release of the album with its incredible lyrics and vocals.

Best line: I'll leave my window open, 'cause I'm too tired at night to call your name.
Oh, just know I'm right here hopin', that you'll come in with the rain.

9. Mary's Song (Oh My My My)

'Mary's Song' tells the story of an old couple and how their relationship has grown since a young age. The reason this song is so underrated is because trying to picture the music video makes me wish it was a single. Imagine watching two neighbors who were once childhood friends grow up to become an old married couple? AND it's based on two people Swift once knew. *So many feels*

Best line: I'll be eighty-seven; you'll be eighty-nine, I'll still look at you like the stars that shine

8. This Love

To my knowledge, 'This Love' is one of the least popular songs that came off of 1989. But, WHY??!! The only song on Taylor's fifth album to be entirely written on her own, 'This Love' is truly a lyrical masterpiece (try listening to the bridge and telling me otherwise).

7. Breathe

One of the only songs Taylor has never performed live in concert, 'Breathe' is a song that shares the story of losing a close friend. Collaborating with Colbie Caillat, the vocals on this track are enough to make you want to listen on repeat forever.

Best line: And we know it's never simple, never easy. Never a clean break, no one here to save me. You're the only thing I know like the back of my hand.

6. Never Grow Up

This song sings like a lullaby and its magical tune could bring a tear to your eye. Simply about wishing you'd never grow up, Swift wrote this after moving out of her parent's home and into her first apartment. A perfect song to listen to after moving into your college dorm (well, if you want to cry it out).

5. Holy Ground

Why Wasn't Holy Ground A Single could literally be a book by angry Taylor Swift fans. This song is about finally being okay with an old relationship being over, and everyone needs to appreciate it as much as diehard Swift fans do.

Best line: And I guess we fell apart in the usual way. And the story’s got dust on every page, But sometimes I wonder how you think about it now. And I see your face in every crowd.

4. Forever & Always (Piano Version)

'Forever & Always' was well-known amongst teen-boppers back in the day, after Swift famously admitted on The Ellen Show that it was about Joe Jonas. The song is about a teen's first big heartbreak, and although the original is wonderful, the slowed down, piano version of the song released on Fearless Platinum Edition is everything you've ever needed.

Best line: Was I out of line? Did I say something way too honest? Made you run and hide like a scared little boy.

3. If This Was A Movie

Even with the infamous misheard lyric ('come back to me-eee like', not 'come back to me, Eli'), this is a beautifully written and highly relatable song. "Taylor, why have you not sung this song live yet?" -Everyone in the Taylor Swift fandom.

2. Sad Beautiful Tragic

How you feel when you listen to this song is right in the title, sad and beautiful and tragic. In my opinion, this track is completely overlooked on Red and is one of the best on the entire album. This song is haunting not only in the lyrics but, in the faint sound of train tracks throughout. Just because a love is over, doesn't mean it wasn't beautiful- Swift enforces that idea in this song.

Best line: And time is taking its sweet time erasing you, And you've got your demons, and, darling, they all look like me

1. Cold As You

The number one must underrated song of Taylor Swift's library comes from her debut album. 'Cold As You' leaves me speechless with its words, and to think it was written by a 15 or 16 year old girl always blows me away. As a crazy Swift fan, I always dreamed of the day Taylor would perform it live, but kind of gave up after a couple of years. Taylor FINALLY performed 'Cold As You' live on the Red Tour in March of 2013, and it was everything I ever dreamt it would be.

Best line: THE ENTIRE SONG.
