kirbym a year agoOk, so here is the issue, horses are really expensive to take care of, and often times once they become old or unsound it is hard for people to justify taking care of them when they have other bills to pay. Also, in this recession, people are increasingly unable to pay for their horse’s feed and vet bills and the horses suffer because of this. Horse rescues have been absolutely flooded since slaughterhouses were banned in the US, and frequently they simply don’t have enough resources to take in every horse that comes their way. Im not saying that it is a nice option, but it is way more humane than letting them starve to death, which is what is happening now.
