She was confirmed drunk and possibly high. She wrecked her car, REFUSED the help of a neighbor, and HOURS later ended up on this guys doorstep with a .21 BAC. This was all after 2 911 calls. Her car was towed away from the original scene literally over an hour before she was shot. If you’re shit faced drunk, wreck your car, wander around for a few hours and STILL have that high of a BAC, you were either black out drunk at the beginning of the night or you continued the drinking after the accident. Either way, its a miracle she didn’t kill herself or someone else that night. Had she have lived through this night, she would be facing a revoked license, possible jail time, and some hefty expenses in fines and damages. You can’t excuse someone shooting her in the face. And I can’t justify why or how she was shot. But the facts of the timeline of events show that she was wreckless, broke several laws that night, and refused the help of others before her death. Denying that her poor choices contributed to how the night ended would just be denial. You don’t have to be a murder sympathizer or victim blamer to see the facts for what they are. And the facts are that she has some responsibility for where she ended up that night. It is ignorant of anyone to believe that there is not racism or racial profiling everywhere in the US. Knowing that, I would never put myself in the position that she put herself in. I certainly wouldn’t have resorted to knocking on random doors in an unfamiliar place in the middle of the night. You place full blame and attack the shooter all you want. At the end of the day you can only control your own actions and not the actions of others. With that in mind people who lack that common sense are ones who end up walking themselves into tragedy. We’ll never rid the world of bad, but i’ll be damn sure to try my best to avoid it.
