Kate Winslet To Her Teenage Daughter: "We're So Lucky We Have A Shape"

The actress is ensuring her 14-year-old daughter grows up with a positive body image, unlike she did.

Kate Winslet has revealed she constantly encourages her teenage daughter to love her body, because she grew up with only negative views about her own image.

The actress opened up on Running Wild with Bear Grylls this week about the challenges she faced growing up.

    She said:

I was chubby, always had big feet, the wrong shoes, bad hair. When I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. I only heard negatives.

That's very damaging because then you're programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinize yourself and how you look.

And as a result Winslet's adamant her 14-year-old daughter Mia will grow up embracing whatever body shape she has.

In fact, she often stands in front of a mirror with Mia to emphasise the positives about their body type.

    You tell 'em, Kate.
