TyrellCorp 4 months agoThe only reason Prometheus was “widely panned” (which is a questionable assertion in itself) is that perpetually adolescent fanboys wanted an Alien prequel that was in line with the Alien sequels. That is explicitly not what Ridley Scott created. Instead, he created an exquisite visual masterpiece on a par with 2001 that explored a scenario 180 degrees from 2001: what if the extraterrestrial progenitors turned out not to be benevolent? And this was wrapped around a deep character story of a solitary genius possessed of unparalleled wealth trying one last long shot to cheat death. A lot of people panned Alien at first, and Blade Runner, and these two films are now regarded as iconic in the Sci Fi genre, and I think Prometheus will join them.

superthom 4 months agoRubbish. Alien, Bladerunner and 2001 provide answers for the questions they raise. That’s what makes them satisfying films. Prometheus presents you with a load of bullshit then refuses to explain any of it while the director and writers promise things will be answered in the sequel. That’s irresponsible, greedy filmmaking.

CameronHodge 4 months agoThis video fails worse than any of the rest I’ve seen but serves to illustrate how much the bandwagoners trashing this movie are really stretching at this point. Yes, it leaves people with more questions than answers. It was clearly intended to. If only budget Tom Hardy and and the two lost scientists hadn’t been the most inexplicably stupid idiots of all time, this film would have been a near masterpiece.

Dulcis Pater 4 months agoIn each one of these videos, there are places where the writers are either stretching way too thin, or they have no problem showing off their confusion. In this video, a good example is this point: “How did she send this message?” She didn’t. It’s called a ship’s log. It’s a very common sci-fi trope based on actual things that actual naval captains do and have done for centuries.
