The Japanese have a traditional icon called the Maneki Neko (beckoning cat) that is believed to bring business and wealth. You may have seen the figurines of a cat with its left paw raised, waving at you; that’s him! This is how the Maneki Neko and the Aflac duck meet.

Aflac Duck In Japan
Gilbert Gottfried was fired as the voice of the Aflac duck after his string of ill-advised joke about Japan following the earthquake and tsunami. Apparently Mr. Gottfried was unaware of how beloved the Aflac duck is in Japan.
