Aflac Duck In Japan
Gilbert Gottfried was fired as the voice of the Aflac duck after his string of ill-advised joke about Japan following the earthquake and tsunami. Apparently Mr. Gottfried was unaware of how beloved the Aflac duck is in Japan.
The Japanese have a traditional icon called the Maneki Neko (beckoning cat) that is believed to bring business and wealth. You may have seen the figurines of a cat with its left paw raised, waving at you; that's him! This is how the Maneki Neko and the Aflac duck meet.
