Okay, I'm going to try to collect my thoughts on this to make this point as powerfully as possible. I often fault the internet with giving us almost too much access to stories of tragedy that then cause rampant anxiety in modern society because we cannot put that “other world” tragedy into a proper place in our daily life. However, I believe that the most profound portion of this interview is the part in which the interviewer insinuates that anti-homosexuality's loudest advocates are probably the ones who have struggled the most to suppress their own same sex feelings. This brings me to my point; The internet has actually IMPROVED the collective consciousness in this instance because anyone paying attention to the numerous stories of “once anti-gay legislators, priests, etc coming out of the closet” realizes that this IS a universal truth;religion or not, anti-gay means you are gay or at least gay-ish. Go internet!
