The Cast Of "The Magicians" Sorted Their Characters Into Hogwarts Houses

Brakebills and Hogwarts do have a lot in common.

Over the weekend, we caught up with the cast of the upcoming TV series The Magicians after their panel at New York Comic-Con.

And for a series that's so often recommended to Harry Potter fans, it only made sense to have the cast sort their Magicians characters into the appropriate Hogwarts houses.

First up, the main character of the story: Quentin Coldwater. Played by Jason Ralph, he thought Gryffindor was a no-brainer for Quentin.

"Gryffindors fancy themselves the heroes of the story, the heroes of their own lives. They're also the people that those stories are about."

Alice Quinn, star pupil of Brakebills Academy, is played by Olivia Taylor Dudley. She immediately sorted her brilliant character into Ravenclaw.

"She's everything that would make a good Ravenclaw."

The magical genius Julia, played by Stella Maeve, was also an obvious choice for Ravenclaw.

    "Julia is an extreme intellectual."

Arjun Gupta, who plays Penny, believed the sometimes-outcast would fit best in Gryffindor.

"It's hard, Penny has a lot of the witticism I would put in Ravenclaw. He also has this darkness that would make sense with Slytherin. But at the end of the day, he's Gryffindor."

Eliot Waugh, leader of the famous Physical Kids, is played by Hale Appleman. He was caught between Slytherin and Gryffindor as the best home for Eliot.

"I think we're Physical Kids, we're our own brand of magic."

But Summer Bishil sees her character, Margo, as 100% Slytherin.

"We're hard to pin down, but Slytherin."

The Magicians premieres on Syfy in 2016. Check out the full NYCC panel here.
