Reader, do you know how much birth control costs? Even with insurance covering part of the cost, my birth control costs me $720 a year ($60 a month). Without insurance it would cost me well over $2000. It’s more than likely to have to spend $3000/year on birth control.

I’ve been on 6 different birth controls since 2002, which I need for my endometriosis. Last year I found out I had a thyroid problem that was throwing my entire body off, so i had to change it again to help get everything under control. The cheapest of those 6 birth controls, with insurance ( and being generic) was $91.00. I’ve had someone ask ” Can’t you just live without them?” No. The pain I get from endometriosis is horrible. Luckily, it hasn;t affected my fertility…yet. And after we have out last child, I will more than likely have to have surgery. But BC helped get everything back on track from my thyroid, after having 2-3 week painful cycles.

Can you use generics? Mine would only be $30/month WITHOUT insurance. I know a lot of people can’t, but if you can, it is SO much cheaper. (And no matter how much it costs, it should still absolutely be covered by insurance. I’m just trying to be helpful here.)

9 bucks a month here. I won’t use anything long term because it costs too much. I also never take the pill on time, so if I ever accidentally pop out a kid you guys have to support, I apologize in advance. Some day I will not be soo damn broke I can afford an IUD or a tubal.
