The posting of the video is obviously in response to the widespread media curiosity over the Aurora shooter (i.e. referring to him as “The Joker” and rampant speculation of his motives).  Considering the relatively short amount of time between the two shootings, isn’t it relevant if it is “addressing coverage that goes on for weeks and glorifies the shooters”? If these events lead us into political debates over gun control (as well they should), should we not also consider the less easily perceptible, but possibly just as prominent effect that the media has on the individuals who commit these crimes?

Riiiiiiight, because NO ONE talked about gun control after Aurora. Or Arizona, or Virginia Tech, or Columbine.

Sometime I think that he may have an unfair advantage due to the fact that his prosthetics basically act like springs and are much lighter than legs would be. Then a little voice in my head tells me “Shut the fuck up, he was born without legs!!!”. Go Oscar!

This is an exact rip-off of a Daniel Tosh bit. But wait, I thought he was terrible and unfunny? Why does everyone like it?

Rape jokes aren’t inherently funny. Just like they’re not inherently unfunny. It takes a very skilled comic to craft humor around such a horrific subject. I’m sticking up for the ATTEMPT, whether the final product turns out funny or not.

Yeah, he’s only selling out theaters and getting parts in Woody Allen movies 25 years later. What a bum.

I can understand that, and it would certainly be very unfortunate if this woman or someone she is close to has been a victim of sexual assault. However, it’s important to note that the middle of a comic’s set is not the correct time or place for her to express her opinion, no, matter how offensive the comic’s material is or how passionately she felt about the subject. If she’s ever been to a comedy show before, she should have known that she would get SOME retribution for heckling.

Find politically incorrect joke. Be offended. Pretend joke is eroding our society. Get special interests involved. Threaten boycott. Demand apology. Rinse. Repeat.

“making a joke about it sends the message that it’s not a big deal” Not at all. Making a joke about it sends the message that it is okay to attempt to find humor in any subject, even horrific ones. In our outrage-obsessed p.c. culture, comedians are the only ones brave enough to take that stand.
