I don’t watch Big Brother, save for a few episodes of an alumni season a few years back. I have, however, heard about this horrific behaviour all summer long because people are in disbelief, but continue to watch. What I don’t understand is how nobody is asking the question I have been wondering all summer: why is nobody asking the network or the producers why these behaviours and beliefs weren’t caught and/or acknowledged during what I’m guessing was a pretty substantial psychological evaluation period of casting. I know they do those evaluations for other reality shows - so people aren’t going to be put into a powder keg with other contestants. But they know personalities before they’re cast - that’s what casting is - they’re looking at all the personality types and putting the right mix together to get the best ratings. The Aaryn one is presented most often as the racist, likely because she’s the character that the producers and editors chose for her. If people are shocked that nobody is intervening here, I’d say it’s because they don’t want to, nor have they any plans to.
