Exclusive: Here's The Cover Of Rainbow Rowell's New Book

We've got an exclusive first look at Rainbow Rowell's Carry On, which hits shelves in October 2015.

Rainbow Rowell, the acclaimed author of Landline, Fangirl, Eleanor & Park, and Attachments will return to the world she introduced in Fangirl in her brand new novel Carry On.

Fans of Rowell will recognize Simon and his world as the focus of the beloved novels that Fangirl's protagonist, Cath, adores. In the book, she's widely known online for the popular fanfiction she writes with her sister about Simon and Baz. Carry On will give readers a much-desired taste of Simon's world.

The book marks Rowell's return to young adult fiction, telling the story of Simon and Baz, two characters first introduced in Fangirl. It's "a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama."

Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he'll be safe. Simon can't even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can't stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you're the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.

Rowell's publisher, St. Martin's Press, provided BuzzFeed with the cover and her thoughts on it:

"When I first saw this cover, all I could say was, 'Ohhhhh...' It completely surprised me, even though it was everything I was telling my publisher I wanted. This book is a little darker, and rougher, than my other books. Tense. I wanted a cover that made me feel a little nervous.

Also, I liked that even though this cover isn't obviously romantic, there's a really strong NOW KISS vibe."

The cover will be used for both the US and UK editions of Carry On. The special editions of Fangirl, which will be released later this month, will include an excerpt of Carry On, as well as fan art and a Q&A with the author.

Carry On will be released on October 6, 2015. Yay!
