The 18 Worst Things For Left-Handed People
I can no longer be silent on the daily oppression of the left-handed community! Hear our pain, world!
1. Spiral Notebooks
Hurts the side of your hand. The worst are the 5-subject with the extra big rings.
2. Writing in a 3-ring binder
You have to do that thing where you fit your hand between the top two, then eventually have to pick it up and fit it in between the bottom two.
3. Only 1 gross lefty glove in gym class
The handsweat of a thousand lefties before you.
4. Only 2 pairs of the green lefty scissors in class, 3 lefty kids.
Scrambling through the scissors to find the ones with the green rubber handles, only to see they’re already all gone.
5. Ballpoint pens don’t work as well because you’re pushing, not pulling the ball
The ink will never flow as well for lefties, so our pens stop up more.
8. iPad Kindle app - left side is back page
This is really annoying - if you prefer to hold it in your left hand, you have to move your hand all the way to the other side to tap. On a real Kindle, page forward is on both sides, thankfully.
9. Driver’s cup holder is for the right hand
So you have to hold your cup with your right hand.
11. Dying sooner, so becoming a zombie sooner
Studies have shown lefties die up to 9 years sooner than righties. At least we’ll get to eat their brains.
12. These desks
College lecture hall desks with postage-stamp sizes desks. You have to twist your back and hold up your arm to use.
13. Measuring cups show you the stupid metric side
The cups/ounces side is for the righties. You have to do that thing where you twist your hole arm around to be able to read ounces.
15. Made for righties
Apparently you can get modified lefty controllers, but maybe you should just go outside.
16. Cord on the credit card machine pen never long enough
Annoying. Annoying. I’m annoyed.
18. For which someone invented THESE
The saddest thing is that all the lefties in the BuzzFeed office now want these. The indignity.

Ahsayuni 2 weeks agoUhm excuse me, I’m right handed and I still have some of these problems? How is pencil dust on your hand a left handed problem? THe right hand still runs over drawings and words on paper, too… And isn’t it easier to have the cup holder on the right side for lefties? While holding the wheel with your dominant hand, you can grab a cup with your right hand. Holding a cup isn’t hard…

jodyer 2 weeks agoI’m ambidextrous, but use my left hand a bit more then my right. My elementary school was anal about getting me to write the “correct” way with my right hand. I flat out refused to conform to their ways. What is odd about me is that in baseball, I’ve always played right handed. I am pretty decent at playing basball. I played catcher, first base, and on occasion, I played center field.

markh49 3 weeks agoI am 61 years old and have been strongly left-handed my entire life. What do I have to say about this list? These are entirely “first world problems!” Video game controllers? Car cup holders? Credit card machines? When was the last time someone was lynched, refused housing, denied the opportunity to vote, or went hungry because they are left-handed? Regardless of which and you prefer, let’s get real folks!

sherals 2 weeks agoLove your comment…My brother and I are in our 50’s and both left handed. The hardest part for me was watching my little brother get spanked every time he used his left hand. The only thing I do with my left is eat and write, I can eat and write with my right, but growing up in a right hand world I am ambidextrous. My poor brother is a true lefty all the way in everything to this day. I put my hand under the lines to write and never travel over written words. I could feed my baby and me at the same time. I hold my chop sticks in the left hand, while holding the fork for the salad in the right. I get told that it is so cool that I can be so coordinated to do this, and curious stares. I think it’s funny and handy! And lefties always get to call shotgun at the dinning table. Who started it that Left is wrong in the first place?

pauld35 3 weeks agoYes I feel for you lefties, but No.9 is just moaning for moaning’s sake. I live in a country where we drive RH drive vehicles (On the Left side of the road) Our cup holders are in the middle and as a Rightie, I have no problem with it. In fact I even manage to change gear with my left hand…… Crazy! And as for No.13, once you guys catch up with the rest of the world and start using metric, you won’t have a problem with this one either!

martinm21 4 weeks agoAdd to the list the old circle saw - Held in the right had the blade will toss stuff away from your body, held in the left hand the blade tosses it at your face. Eye protection is not an option. Long ago in Basic Training I found that the old M-16 (and I guess most other guns like it) were also built for the right handed person. The hot shell is ejected from the right side of the gun; if held by a right handed person that tosses the hot brass away from the body. The left handed person holds the rife in a way the ejecting shell comes back toward the face. Depending on how the gun is adjusted it will even hit the shooter. The trainer asked me why I was flinching so much and then looked at me - I had blood on my cheek from a shell - after that it was a bit hard not to be a bit jumpy. They were out of guns with a shell deflector (too many left handers in our group). One more - The hot and cold faucets are designed for the right handed group and they get a bit ticked off when you redesign it the other way. The right handed person standing at the sink will reach out and find the cold water, the left handed person get the hot. Switching them around at your house and not warning the right handed guests is lots of fun.

my old RCA rocketbook allows you to switch sides easily. I like that because when I read in bed and turn over I can switch to the other hand. I got it online for $15. One of the best Christmas pressies dh got me. -

swirlyglasses a week ago^They’re primary used by artists to keep away pencil smudge,ink stains to the side of the hand,and to keep drawing tablet screens clean of scratches and side hand prints,etc. I have no idea why they would be on this list since they’re made for both hands and smudge isn’t a left hand only problem.

kims33 4 weeks agoBeing a leftie some of these are so true: 1,2,6,12,16 & 17. I throw a softball, serve volleyball & play tennis right handed. Even though I am a leftie I don’t realize how much I do use my right hand. The funniest thing for me is sometimes I can’t remember which is my left hand.
