By the way, the self-cleaning house is not a science fiction, Frances Gabe has a patent for such a home with 68 time-saving mechanisms. But not everyone is able to design so helpful tool and luckily there are easier ways to clean your home, without needing any architectural and technical skills.
1. Don't Make a Mess
I know it's easier said than done, but if you don't make a mess, you would clean less. If you have the unpleasant habit of flinging your belongings, all you need to have is a basket a box or just a bowl. Like 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything, the basket is the answer to the tidy home. Let's face it, there are a lot of tiny stuff in every house, mysteriously appearing on the surfaces. A pile of stuff on your table or shelf looks messy, but when you put it in a basket it looks organized and tidy.
2. It's All About The Time
As a procrastinator you always find the perfect excuse not to clean the house. Time is money and we shouldn't waste it on such boring cleaning tasks, am I right? In that case, you will need self-mastery and inner strength. Set a timer for ten minutes in the morning and twenty in the evening. Make your bed, tidy your stuff in the first session and get rid of the dirt and hang all of the clothes back in the evening session. That will make your home shining for less than thirty minutes a day!
3. Put Everything in the Dishwasher
You will be surprised how many things you can put in your dishwasher. I'll draw your attention to some of them:
- Range fan grills (the greasiest thing in the house) and refrigerator shelves;
- Almost everything from a woman's makeup kit: hairbrushes, combs, makeup brushes, tweezers and eyebrow brushes;
- Plastic child and pet toys;
You can put in the dishwasher even keys, sponges, and baseball hats. If you haven't one you can skip this step or if you are extremely lazy you can just switch to paper plates and try using only one pot for making the dinner.
4. Vacuum Cleaner
The modern vacuum cleaners have a variety of attachments, designed to clean almost every surface. You can vacuum everything, window blinds, window panes, and radiators are just some of the examples. Instead of wiping the dust from the tables or the shelves, you can vacuum them. Your vacuum cleaner is a powerful weapon and you can use it against the dirt in your home.
5. Split the Big Cleaning Into Small Tasks
Since we have been procrastinating the cleaning for so long, the tasks become more and more. The easiest way to finish the big job is to split it into small, easy-to-handle tasks. Let's imagine that you don't vacuum or sweep your floor for a week. The accumulated dust, food and pet hair are making up an especially revolting type of dirt, the cleaning of which requires immense effort on your part. As you can see, regular vacuuming has its perks. YSo, you'll find out that the five minutes evening habit can save you hours of work every week.
6. Hire a Cleaning Company
Hiring a cleaning company is probably the easiest way to have a clean house without putting any effort. Using cleaners once a month to do the tasks you hate doing, like cleaning the toilet or wash the windows, could save you time and nerves. If you are not sure how much it'd cost most of the cleaning companies offer a fee quote, so you can simply find the nearest company and ask them.
7. Invite Your Friends
Motivation. Serial procrastinators can confirm that they get more cleaning done for ten minutes before someone comes over than they do in a week. But you should have in mind that this doesn't work if you are too close with your friends, because if it is so, you wouldn't care about the mess. However, when you are planning a dinner, your mind will be so distracted by the cooking and everything, that you won't think about how much you hate cleaning. While cleaning, you'll be simply thinking about the perfect night.
No matter how long you will procrastinate, the cleaning will overtake you. So, use the force, stop procrastinating, and start scheduling the home tasks. Don't forget that if you are planning to do a lot of stuff after work, you'll find yourself sitting on the couch, drinking beer, watching TV and procrastinating again. Do a little bit each day and over time you'll see how the cleaning will transform into some not so much annoying thing.
