karaokeblackout 10 months agoI’m not sure you realize that all men’s Olympic squads are made up of U-23 players. They get 3 supplemental players not included in the age limit, and he wasn’t picked. This is not surprising. Moreover, the MLS is not a dumping ground (anymore) for players who have seen better days. Rafa Marquez? Thierry Henry? Rumors of Caca going to New York? Oh, right, because this was written with the snark of an American who studied abroad in Holland and decided that would be their national team to support. Next time a soccer list with borderline intelligent anecdotes needs to be composed, get someone who actually understands the game, okay?

karaokeblackout 10 months agoAs you’re aware for your last post, typos happen. Anyway, what about St. Germain being interested in Beckham? You don’t think Marquez could go elsewhere? MLS is evolving and is not really the bush league of years past. No one is going to say it has the storied history of any European team, but what do you expect? Getting somewhat older players with huge name recognition gets more people into the stands, which is what a growing league needs.

Hiac 10 months agoim sorry but your examples of why the mls isnt a dumping ground for old players…henry’s best days are definitely behind him. marquez’s too. i presume caca is kaka because caca is something very different and hes a) 30 and b) a shadow of the player he was a few years ago. i hope the mls improves but as it stands no class player the right side of 30 is leaving europe to play in the mls
