      I’m afraid your correction is wrong on several points. The person you’re thinking of is John Hanson, and the office he held (not first, by the way) was ‘President of the Continental Congress.’ The closest modern-day analogue to that position would be Speaker of the House, but the President (as in presiding officer) of the Continental Congress had even less power, essentially filling the role of a moderator. Because he had no executive power, referring to him and the other Presidents of the Continental Congresses as Presidents of the United States is misguided.
