While I certainly don’t agree with him on this issue, he would be a great selection for Sect. of Defense. He’s shown throughout his career that he will stand up for his beliefs regardless of whether anyone, including his own party, disagrees. He was in the small minority that opposed the Iraq War. He has a rational position on Israel. He supports much needed budget cuts in the defense sector. He’s one of the few Republicans that I admire and respect. And while the quote above is unsettling, he said it about 15 years ago, and I wouldn’t be surprised if his opinions on the issue have changed since then.
