If you substitute “person” for “woman” in the Penny Arcade comment it wouldn’t be viewed as sexist at all. I think the point he was making is that death can be brutal in the game, not that SPECIFICALLY because Croft is a woman that the deaths are noteworthy. Swap in Nathan Drake (much like the author of this article did earlier) and say “if you like to watch a man get impaled” and no one bats an eye. Some of this stuff just seems like someone responding in an oversensitive manner.

I hope everyone realizes that NONE of what he’s enacted today would have stopped Newtown, Aurora, or any other major tragedy that has happened. It’s political posturing by a president who wants to be seen as acting without doing anything meaningful.

If unions are so great why should giving people a choice undermine the unions? Wouldn’t people WANT to join the unions? And therefore taking away mandatory membership of unions shouldn’t hurt them unless the unions themselves aren’t performing services that people would want to be a part of. Taking away the choice on whether or not you have to be in a union is undemocratic.

For those arguing everyone should boycott Chik-fil-a because of Dan Cathy’s stance on gay marriage… shouldn’t we be boycotting many gas companies since their owners have homosexuals put to death in their own countries?

I get that they’re trying to do something good, but it seems like whenever women strip down for a cause it’s more about them than the cause. I know that’s not their motivation, but that’s generally the purpose of these kinds of photos isn’t it?

In all fairness I don’t believe any of these ‘ceremonies’ have any legal standing.

I’m glad to see someone stand up for someone else. But the article claims “the world is changing” and that bullies should “take note,” but the reason the linebacker stood up for the gay student is because his parents are gay. What about the nerd or weird kids who get bullied? I’m glad homosexual kids are finding more people to defend them because they really need it, but to pretend that bullying is going away I think is a bit premature.

So… if he was speaking to an all male group and said “I am convinced that the men of this generation— all of you— will lead the way”… that would go over well right?
