If Obama is perceived to end up helping corporate interests and forgetting about the poor or minorities, won't he be seen as an “Uncle Tom?” Is it really offensive to formulate that as a possibility he might face? For that to be racism or wrong at all, one would have to show that its not a plausible accounting of one path his term could logically take. Nader is obviously hoping it doesn't, and he explicitly formulates the label of Uncle Tom as a possibility conditional on a future path. Shep Smith is posturing. He gets to play the anti-racist for his viewers. That's all these guys do when someone says something at all non-PC.
