A few years ago, me and some friends drove to Virginia for a conference, and our car broke down just as we were leaving the parking lot. A group of people came up alongside us and offered to help, and when we still couldn’t get the car moving, they drive us to a hotel for the night, because it was already past midnight. Instead of just dropping us off, they paid for our hotel that night.  The next morning, after a tow truck picked up our car, our new friends drove us to the mechanic’s shop, and said on the way “do you fellas want any cash to help pay for your car?” We refused, saying they had already done enough.  The mechanic told us it would be about $700 to fix the car. We had no idea where we would get the money. I opened up my luggage to get my wallet, and found that our new friends had left us $650. I never cried so hard in my life.
