Er, shouldn’t.
Er, shouldn’t.
It’s one thing to be proud of and tout your record, and another thing to say “I’m the best ever.” It’s just one thing to say gays should be able to serve openly.
So did you skip the pictures, or did you just not find them outrageously stupid and dishonest? Just wondering.
Solid counterpoint.
If you want to unnecessarily widen the conflict and put at odds people who are actually aligned when it comes to gay rights, sure, put it that way.
Disproportionate response!
One more short note, I’m sorry, to put a point on everything I’ve said here. Does it make a person stupid to not know any facts about what they speak? To operate strictly on gut instinct, impressions, and (frequently paranoid) conjecture? Yes, I think it does.
Regarding the deficit, here’s a handy graph that I think speaks volumes. And the CBO projects that health reform will SAVE $118 billion over the first ten years, and $600 billion over the second ten years. Of course, you won’t hear those facts at a teabag rally. Another thing you won’t hear at a teabag rally is Democrats are historically the ones who give us budget surpluses. His holiness Ronald Reagan was almost as much a budgetary incompetent as Bush was. But again, you won’t hear that from a teabagger.
They get to be called hypocrites without an ounce of credibility because they go rabid over deficit spending when it’s to provide people with health care and unemployment aid, but not when it’s to wage spurious wars, inflate the defense budget to ridiculous proportions, and cut the taxes of the wealthy. Had they made a peep when Bush was squandering the surplus and inflating the deficit, I might take them more seriously. And you’re right, Obama gave tax cuts to the <$250K people, for which the tax zombies didn’t give him any credit (of course Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh didn’t tell them about it, so the vast majority of them don’t even know). They get to be called stupid and racist for lionizing stupid, racist and unserious people like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin (minus the racism), etc., and placing them so proudly at the fore of their movement. Personally, I think they also get to be called racist for deciding they want “their” country back six months into Obama’s presidency, by which time he’d signed, if memory serves, three pieces of legislation. And like I said, “socialist” has taken on new meaning thanks to the idiot demagogues like Beck and the leaders of the tea party movement. I suppose it would be reasonable to call some Democratic policies “socialist” under the old definition. Social Security. Medicare. But that’s the nature of American government, and it has been for almost a hundred years. It’s not socialist, it’s not capitalist, it’s a hybrid that leans heavily capitalist. People who don’t acknowledge that, people who snarl “socialist” like it’s a vile damnation, don’t get to be taken any more seriously than the “fascist”-snarling, Che Guevara t-shirt-wearing stoners. And yes, they get to be called stupid.
If there was any way to make this song tolerable to me, this would be it. But there’s not.
