Walmart Is Selling A "Pashtun Papa Islamic Costume"

"Nothing is sacred this Halloween," reads the costume description. Update: Walmart is removing the costume from its site.

This Halloween, Walmart is selling a costume called the "Pashtun Papa."

Costume Kingdom, the makers of the Pashtun Papa costume, also sell other "Middle East"-centric garb.

Walmart also sells the Arab Sheik costume.

Here's the description for that, which promises that you'll "surely delight."

As of this morning, the photo of the "Pashtun Papa" costume had been removed from Walmart's site, though you can still technically buy it on the site.

But while the photo is down, the description for the costume remains.

Nevermind that the Pashtun live mainly in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Critics are calling out Walmart for carrying the offensive costume.

And actual Pashtuns are not convinced.

Brooke Buchanan, senior director of Walmart Corporate Communications, told BuzzFeed News that the costume is actually sold via a Costume Kingdom, which is one of Walmart's third-party vendors, and wasn't vetted directly by Walmart.

"When it was brought to our attention on social media, we began working to pull this down. We are deeply sorry that this costume is on our website, and we are pulling it down as soon as possible. We are calling on all of the other retailers to pull it down as well."

"We have strict policies with our third party vendors, and It's very important to us that products on the site don't offend groups of people, or minorities."

When asked about the "Arab Sheik" costume, Buchanan said she wasn't familiar with the costume.

Walmart has suspended the marketplace seller and has removed all of their items.

An email to Costume Kingdom were not immediately returned.
