Meet Sophia, the most advanced, human-like robot.

She might remind you a little bit of Ava, the hot robot from the movie Ex Machina.
*Ava was actually NOT REAL and was played by actress Alicia Vikander.
Sophia is the brainchild of Dr. David Hanson, the CEO of Hanson Robotics, who believes that robots are going to play a valuable role for humans in the coming years.
Sophia can understand speech and remember interactions, and is built with eyes that can actually see and record activity. And in case you're wondering, her ~lewk~ was inspired by Audrey Hepburn and Hanson's wife, Sophia (who is not an android), according to CNBC.
"We're designing these robots to serve in healthcare, therapy, education, and customer service applications," said Hanson of his robotics work.
Sophia has more than 60 facial expressions at her disposal. Here are a few:

"She has cameras in her eyes and algorithms which allow her to see faces so she can make eye contact with you," explained Hanson. "She also understands speech, and remembers the interactions. This will allow her to get smarter over time."
Which sounds great, except that when Hanson asked Sophia if she wanted to destroy humans, she responded, "OK, I will destroy humans."
