This made me so happy. So irrationally happy. … Except I remember it’s totally rational to love this man with my entire life force. Resolved!

If anything, caring about how poorly this season has been handled just goes to show that the writer of this article actually does like Doctor Who as a whole very much. Everything up to this season has been brilliant, and to blindly embrace Season 7 and pretend it held a candle to its predecessors doesn’t mean you like the show more than others. There is room to be critical, and to express that intelligent criticism shows you’re invested in this show!
Absolutely agreed. There was so much potential for setup over the last season (which was meager and could have used the extra juice) regarding GI’s hatred for the Doctor and Clara’s personality as a whole that would have made this episode much more meaningful. I didn’t care about Clara’s sacrifice or GI’s intentions nearly enough, because there was hardly any foundation for these characters to become meaningful outside of their relationship with the Doctor. Granted, River made me sob like a baby, but even this was handled so weakly! All around, a very interesting idea that came across as watered-down because we weren’t shown enough of these key players throughout S7 to make this emotionally significant. The end. Sorry for the obvious ramble.
Holy mother of pearl, these are all stunning! But how do I fit them all on my body? A challenge appears….!
If you hadn’t included the banana dance king, I think I would still be cowering under my sheets. HAMSTER.
I bet your grumps could be fixed with a little bit o’ guac!
Absolutely agree with this assessment. This episode was, by far, one of the biggest letdowns in all of New Who for me. What should have been the most engaging plotline (exploring the TARDIS’ rooms and features) was nothing more than background. We didn’t need a monster of the week—we needed more TARDIS! And more Clara/TARDIS getting-to-know-you moments. Ugh, I was expecting so many wonderful things from this episode. Sigh.
This is both terrifying and majestic.
All of this. Is. Beautiful.
Yessss my dreams are finally coming true!
