World’s Largest Insect Found
Adventurer Mark Moffett (how great is that job title?) was out adventuring on Little Barrier Island in New Zealand when he found this guy. The giant, cricket-like insect was recently declared the world’s biggest and is so large that it eats full-sized carrots.

oOo a year agoMoffett thinks this is a cute moment, feeding him the carrot. But everybody knows crickets hate carrots. This is a cunning ruse and distraction technique on the part of the cricket. Notice the ovipositor stuck down into the flesh of Moffett’s palm. It first secreted a numbing agent, then unsheathed a spiked tube, which sunk down into his palm flesh to deposit a whole mess of fertilized eggs. Two weeks from now, Moffett will awaken in great pain as loads of crickets emerge and eat his hand off. Not so smart now, are you Moffett?
