Some People Are Pretty Pissed About The New York Marathon Being Canceled
Some of these complaints seem pretty reasonable — it sucks to train all year for something that isn’t happening… Others? Not so much.

joshuay 6 months agoFuck all of these people and their bitching. If they can’t manage to look past themselves and see how much damage was done by water ALONE then I have no pity that they wasted their time and money. Natural disasters happen. Right now is not the time to run a god damn marathon when millions are suffering in the same place you want to run. I’m sorry that it’s an “inconvenience” that a huge fucking storm came through. I think the biggest disaster of all is the decline that humanity has had. These are your fellow Americans who need help desperately and all you fuckwads care about is a stupid ass race. And fuck the NYC Government for thinking that the marathon was a good idea. Logic dictates that when a major disaster happens, running a marathon should be the LAST thing you should be worrying about. One last thought. When a 700 mile wide storm hits a coastal region, right where you are getting ready to leave to go run a marathon, wouldn’t you think to maybe cancel your flight, rather than going there anyways and acting all indignant when the fucking race doesn’t happen because of said 700 mile wide fist-fuck from mother nature?

Calvin k 6 months agoI don’t understand… how does training got to do with anything? You trained for yourself, you still got the benefit. You can still run elsewhere. OH wait you trained to show off in a group event? When thousands are suffering right beside your run? Why would the training be “wasted”? maybe the complaining runners need to re-exame why they run. Maybe they need a better way to validate their personal worth… like helping disaster victims.

jillh5 6 months agoThese people know they can still just run, right? It’s not like they eradicated their ability to still just go outside and run for 26.2 miles. Like, anywhere where there is a sidewalk or a street? You can still run on it. You don’t NEED a number bib or a starter’s pistol or a medal or whatever. Just quit yer bitchin’ and run.

brijazz 6 months agoMost people are just whining, but it’s reasonable to be legitimately pissed if you’d JUST flown into the city to run after being told that the marathon was a go. Clearly, NYC should’ve canceled MUCH further in advance and saved everyone the aggravation (and cash). Bloody waffling politicians.

Mike K. 6 months agoAs much as I dislike Chris Christie, he beats the hell out of bloomberg for saying he doesn’t give a damn about elections, some far more important than a marathon, in the wake of the storm. Bloomberg should’ve taken that as a cue and got his priorities straight from the start

They canceled the marathon because they were diverting resources like food, water and manpower to the Marathon that is desperately needed elsewhere. No matter how many people flew into the city and had their plans canceled theres no way to explain using all that stuff where its not needed when there are people who havent had water or power or dry clean clothes in days. These people are spoiled asses. As long as theyre here they could get there ass down to Rockaway or Staten Island and volunteer with Red Cross.

Those that are bitching about having paid for flights etc. to go to NYC better shut it and still go to maybe help out and think of others apart from themselves. I know it’d be annoying training and looking forward to something but really, big picture here.

The last comment is the worst. NYC didn’t deserve what happened to it. Understandably these people trained very hard, but there’s more important things in life than the NYC Marathon. These comments just go to show the selfishness that exists in the world.
